What to expect:

Osteopathy is a gentle system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of conditions. Osteopaths use a hands-on approach to improve the function of the body; this optimises the body’s inherent healing processes, restoring health and well being naturally. A holistic focus means that the body is looked at as a whole, with the health and wellbeing of the individual depending on all of the body’s structures working well together. A variety of treatment techniques are used and these may include: mobilisation of joints and tissues, massage and stretching. Treatments are gentle and aim to support the natural healing processes of the body. With the aim of relief of symptoms, improved movement and restoration of function.

Cranial osteopathy is a gentle and subtle form of osteopathy that is used throughout the body to diagnose and treat strain and re-balance areas of dysfunction. During treatment some people are aware of different sensations, such as mild tension, or aching; other people are unaware of anything happening at all during the treatment but are aware that they feel very different when they get up afterwards. Most people find the treatment to be relaxing. Cranial osteopathy is widely known for the treatment of babies but, is equally effective for children, adults and the elderly.

A detailed, examination and assessment is undertaken prior to treatment. Treatments and techniques are tailored to meet the needs of the individual patient.

Specific exercise instruction and postural advice is provided to help patients to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
